Patterns are everywhere, and they are becoming easier and easier to create. This has resulted in more competition, making it increasingly difficult to stand out in the pack when pitching to art directors and buyers. Break the Pattern looks at new ways to dig deep into your creative toolkit and start designing with a new mindset. Topics covered in this session include an Industry "Reality Check", The Pro's and Con's of Traditional or "typical" Surface Art Designs, and how to Design with a Modern Approach. This session aims to stoke your creative fire and stand out from the crowded market place of surface artists.

    If you are an emerging artist, or an experienced artist who is perhaps stuck in a creative rut this session will provide ideas on how to find your passion, and build a portfolio that will stand out in the croweded market place of surface artists. At least you will gain an insight to what Nerida experiences every day, as she receives submissions from artists across her desk, and what she beleives makes a great portfolio stand out from an ordinary one.

  • Can we ask Questions during the live session?

    There is minimal time available during this one hour session, but some time will be made available for questions at the end. In the event of a larger group however, there will be no guarantees that we will have time for all participants to ask a question.
